Closing

Prepare the closing: accruals and reversals

Identify the year's accrued assets and liabilities, then generate the 31 December entries and their reversals.

Video tutorial · 0:55

At year end, some expenses and income belong to a different financial year from the one in which they were paid. The Closing page helps you identify them and generates the adjusting entries on 31 December, with their reversal on 1 January.

Open the assistant

Open Closing and choose the Fiscal year. The page has three tabs: Accrued assets, Accrued liabilities and Summary.

Accrued assets

This tab lists customer invoices still open at the end of the year, imported from Odoo.

  1. Click Refresh from Odoo to update the list.
  2. Tick the invoices to accrue.
  3. Click Add to transitories.

Accrued liabilities

The Transitory liabilities assistant asks questions in three steps: History, Recurring vendors and Standard checklist. It draws on your own books, for example last year’s expenses.

Answer each question with Yes or No. For Yes, enter the Amount (CHF), the Account and a Description. Suggested amounts come from your history: adjust them to the invoices you expect. Then click Add to transitories.

Generate the entries

The Summary tab shows the Entries on 31.12 and the Reversals on 01.01 of the following year.

  1. Check each line and delete any that don’t apply.
  2. Make sure the total shows Balanced.
  3. Click Generate entries.

Lines move from Draft to Generated, then to Exported once you export to Crésus.
