Your VAT method determines how VAT is calculated and how your periods are split. Choose the method registered for your company with the Federal Tax Administration (FTA).
Set the method
Open Settings, then VAT.
| Mode | How VAT is calculated | Periods |
|---|---|---|
| Effective method | VAT on every transaction, with input tax deduction | Quarterly |
| Net tax debt rate (TDFN) | The net tax rate applied to turnover | Half-yearly |
Then enter the Default VAT rate: the standard rate for the effective method, or the net tax rate granted to you by the FTA.
Accounting basis
For the net tax rate, choose what counts as taxable turnover:
- Cash basis (payments received): only payments you have received count;
- Accrual basis (invoices issued): invoices you have issued count too, even if they are unpaid.
Changing method
Changing method also changes the period type. ark.flow then offers to regenerate the affected future periods and shows which years are concerned before you confirm.
