Bank imports

Import PayPal and Stripe

Import the CSV export from PayPal or Stripe: each payment becomes an entry, and fees get an entry of their own.

PayPal and Stripe collect payments for you, then pay the money out to your bank account. ark.flow Compta treats their CSV export like a statement: a clearing account (1090 by default) receives the payments, pays the fees and is emptied by the payouts to your bank.

Before you start

  • Export your activity as CSV from your PayPal account, or your payments from the Stripe Dashboard.
  • In Chart of accounts, set your clearing account’s Bank import source to PayPal or Stripe. The account’s button then appears on the Import screen.
  • The file must be no larger than 10 MB.

Import the export

  1. Open Import and click the PayPal or Stripe account. Other source (auto-detect) works too: both formats are recognised.
  2. Drop the CSV file.
  3. Review the proposals in Entry validation, then click Import all or Import selected.

What the import takes from the file

  • Completed transactions only. For PayPal, the Completed status; for Stripe, payments that succeeded or are available.
  • CHF only. Transactions in other currencies are skipped.
  • The gross amount of each payment, against an income account suggested from the description.
  • Fees in a separate entry, on account 6840 Bank charges.
  • Payouts to your bank. For PayPal, a withdrawal to your bank account is recognised as a settlement and linked to the imported file, which serves as the supporting document.

The file itself is filed as a document of the account.

Common problems

Transactions are missing: they may be in a foreign currency, or not yet completed when you exported.

The clearing account doesn’t go back to zero: a payout to your bank falls outside the exported period, or the matching bank statement hasn’t been imported yet.
